Wildlife biologist and avid birder Danielle Belleny and naturalist and science communicator Jeffrey Ward will join Payomet's Early Stages series for an interpretive sciences event focused on coastal birding! Danielle and Jeffrey will discuss the etiquette of sharing the beach with nesting shorebirds, the ways climate change will impact how we enjoy shorebirds, and some identification tips for enjoying beach birds from a distance. You can expect lively conversation, fascinating facts, and expert bird watching tips!
About Danielle:
Danielle Belleny is a wildlife biologist, science communicator, and avid birder from San Antonio, Texas. Her favorite part about her job is being able to share her knowledge of nature with others. She is a member of the BlackAFinSTEM Collective, an organization focused on sharing the stories of Black scientists and nature enthusiasts. Danielle is also a co-founder of #BlackBirdersWeek, a movement created by the BlackAFinSTEM Collective which celebrates Black experiences in outdoor recreation.
About Jeffrey:
Meet Jeffrey Ward, a birder, naturalist and science communicator born and raised in the Bronx, NY but recently moved to Georgia. His love for animals began at a very young age with field guides and animal shows. Jeffrey's love for birds and the natural world has taught him so much and brought forward a new respect for nature. His journey has led him to learn what he can do to protect native birds and their habitats while trying to diversify and spread the word of inclusivity in the outdoors.
