Payomet is proud to present accomplished neuroscientist and author of Still Alice Lisa Genova in her performance of Where Did I Put My Keys? How We Remember and Why We Forget, an event to benefit the Alzheimer's Family Support Center.

As a culture, we tend to cast Forgetting as the bad guy in the epic battle against everyone’s favorite hero, Remembering. But our memory system isn’t a war between good and evil. Most of what we forget every day is actually 100% normal. But we tend to lay a lot of fear, shame, and stress on ourselves every time we forget to take out the trash, where we put our phones, why we walked into the kitchen, or the name of a movie a friend recommended. Dr. Lisa Genova aims to humanize forgetting, to help us understand why these normal kinds of memory failures happen so we can have a better relationship with memory.

In this talk focused on her newest New York Times bestseller, Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting, Genova will educate us about the intricacies of how we remember, why we forget, and what we can do to protect our memories.

Ticket Price: $50

About Lisa: Neuroscientist and author acclaimed as the Oliver Sacks of fiction and the Michael Crichton of brain science, Lisa Genova has captured a special place in contemporary fiction, writing stories that are equally inspired by neurological conditions and our shared human condition.
