Come out for our 2026 Season Launch Party ft. The Fred Clayton Band on Saturday, January 3 at Wellfleet Preservation Hall.
In addition to enjoying an evening of blues with the Fred Clayton Band, we're gathering a small group of folks whom we refer to as Payomet Music Mavens, including our friends at WOMR who support music in our community, for an open, informal chat about music programming on the Outer Cape—what’s working, what you’re excited about, what might be missing, and in what ways we can better serve our audiences.
Both the conversation and concert are open to the public. Our goal is simply to create a relaxed, welcoming space to connect and share ideas before heading into the evening’s performance.

More about “The Blues Man of Cape Cod”, Fred Clayton:
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Clayton’s musical journey began with a homemade “stick with a string” and evolved into a lifelong devotion to blues, jazz, funk, and soul. After formative years studying music in Boston and mentorship from jazz greats, he spent 15 years performing across Europe, honing his craft in Parisian streets and clubs.
Now firmly rooted on Cape Cod, Clayton leads his tight, dynamic band—featuring guitarists Keb Hutchings and Alex Pashoian, drummer Christian McCarthy, and often saxophonist Peter Murray—delivering grooves that blend tradition with improvisational flair.
Their sets span blues classics, original compositions, and soulful standards, rooted in a genuine musicanship that keeps audiences coming back.
