Yes, the English Pilgrims landed at Meshawn, today’s Provincetown, 404 years ago this fall. Yet people have been on Cape Cod for 12,000 years, long before the age of European exploration. On the Cape and Islands, hundreds of place names–including Payomet–reflect Native American peoples, culture and communities.

Tuesday, July 16 at 10:00am will be a journey back to the origins of human settlement in North America, Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the establishment of the Cape Cod National Seashore. So, buckle up for a roller coaster ride of history on steroids.

About the speaker: Paul Savage of Wellfleet is a retired high school history teacher. Courses he taught included United States history, ethics, and the History of Information Technology. He is an avid surfer, bicyclist and inveterate volunteer on the Lower Cape.
