EVENT LOCATION: Thacher Hall, Yarmouth Port

“If Joni Mitchell and Richie Havens had a love child, with Rodney Dangerfield as the midwife, the results might be something close to the great Vance Gilbert" – Richmond Magazine

"Gilbert took the stage, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, a whimsical sense of humor, and an astonishingly smooth, pure tenor voice. But that proved to be more than enough." – Chicago Tribune

Thirty years into his career, Vance Gilbert's influence can be felt all over the contemporary Folk and Americana realm as he has helped pave the way for many of the BIPOC artists who have followed– and we're grateful to welcome him back to Cape Cod in collaboration with Thacher Hall for a Payomet Road Show on Saturday, November 2.

Vance burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 1990s when the buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking 'em dead at open mics. Word of the Philadelphia-area bred performer quickly spread to New York City– then Shawn Colvin invited Gilbert to be a special guest on her Fat City national tour, and Vance Gilbert took audiences across the country by storm.

Vance continues to refine his unlikely union of humor, virtuosity, and the unexpected. Whether with classic, original songwriting or ageless interpretations of covers, his is a presentation steeped in deep humanism and bravery, stunning artistry and soul, and contagious, unbridled joy - inarguably the blue ribbons that tie and seal the seemingly impossible package that is... Vance Gilbert.

Ticket Price: $30 // Members: $28
